And since I am at it to introduce a few internationally not yet very well-known Bulgarian poets here, I am presenting another young contemporary poet today with a few examples of his art.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ivan Landzhev (born 1986) published his first collection of poetry <em>Blame It on Bobby Fischer<\/em> (\u041f\u043e \u0432\u0438\u043d\u0430 \u043d\u0430 \u0411\u043e\u0431\u0438 \u0424\u0438\u0448\u0435\u0440) in 2012. The volume was critically acclaimed in Bulgaria and shows an already very versatile and surprisingly mature poet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The collection that is named (like one of the poems) after the eccentric American chess genius consists like a chess game of three sections: Debut, Mittelspiel, Endspiel, all three are\u00a0introduced by a quote of Fischer. But of course this threepartition may also stand for the different sections of life, and thus it is not surprising that the author starts his book with a childhood \/>\n<strong>achievements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>no, I\u2019m not a rebel<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>I am a gold-digger<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>I\u2019m just extracting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>the glorious past<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The chess metaphor plays a role in several of the poems of this book, but it always points at something specific time.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>He looks at birds out the window<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>and all of them he sees as game.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>If it so happens that he reads,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>the strong man reads<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Heidegger<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>and never Novalis. There\u2019s<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>nothing romantic about him.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Here:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The same woman calls him every night<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>to go to a bar, where she is sitting and<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>she is admiring most deliberately<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>the shoulder of another strong man.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>But the strong man never finds out.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Of course \u2013 he simply doesn\u2019t go.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Yes. And while these and those rules last,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>and the laws are being forged, I just sit there.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>(Inside the attic<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>studio it\u2019s night-time).<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>I put ice, not more<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>than I would need.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>I listen hard to music,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>made by fragile people.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Half of them are still alive,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>but when I think about it, most<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>of them are not\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Outside is raining, it\u2019s drumming against<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>the skylights, the city is pained by the drops.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>A grey screen, cankered by<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>signal disturbances.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>When the track is over, you start<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>and you call, you signal me about yourself,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>and how you just annoy me \u2013 I know,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>again I\u2019m not your first choice.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Inside \u2013 all the knowledge in my head,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>outside \u2013 disturbances, while I<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>once more put on my clothes<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>and I arrive<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>again!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>To see<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>you<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>and all that which<\/strong><br uses\u00a0a pun that is difficult to translate in another language. &#8216;Samomnenie&#8217; (\u0441\u0430\u043c\u043e\u043c\u043d\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0435) can mean self-esteem, but also vanity, conceit in Bulgarian, whereas &#8216;samo mnenie&#8217; (\u0441\u0430\u043c\u043e \u043c\u043d\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0435) means &#8216;just an opinion&#8217;;\u00a0play on words is a frequent happening
